Hi Sophie,

Thanks for the nice document about requested chart features. Especially I like, that there is a picture and an issue number (if available) for each described feature.

Other issues will be opened after a deeper search in RFEs (but IZ is so slow now that I'll have to wait a little bit).

I am not so sure whether an issue is the right place to host this document. You need to query the issues or know the issue number first before you get the document that gives you an overview about the open chart issues. I would like to see such a document at a more prominent place. Maybe we can take this document as a basis to replace the existing FeatureWishList at http://graphics.openoffice.org/chart/featurewishes.html.
What do you think about that?

Thanks a lot for your proposal. You're right an issue is definitely not the best place but I didn't know where to put it before being sure it was useful for you. I'll try to cross it with the featurewishes list to see what is missing in the document and add also the pictures and issue numbers when available.

That would be very nice. Thanks a lot!

Although this document has been made by the French community, I think it will be great that the international community have a look at it, may be our needs could differ. The issue could let them add their comments and we can work the document on it ?

Fine. I can offer to review and upload an updated version from time to time. Than we can stay with the issue for comments and provide a link there to the updated document and maybe vice versa. Would that be ok for the French community?

You asked about the state of the chart module. The chart module is currently reimplemted from scratch to create a useable base to implement the missing features. The accessory childworkspace is 'chart2mst3'. I am not sure whether we can integrate it before 3.0. First we have to finish the reimplementation and there is still a lot of work. If you are interested in evaluating or testing the current state I maybe could provide some current builds for download.

Oh, it would be really great, our team would be very pleased to give feedback and may be help where it can. One of our young developer would be interested to help to in coding but is not sure where he can enter, I'm sure that will help him here too.

That sounds great. We are currently resyncing to a new milestone and will create new builds afterwards. For development evaluation it would be better to wait for the new version. I will let you know, when I have provided them for download. The new chart is implemented in module graphics/chart2 all in c++. But there are a lot of other office modules needed to build it (see Childworkspace chart2mst3). I am not sure how ugly it is to get all the stuff together. Does your young developer have something special in mind, that he wants to do? A quick look over our open issues revealed that he might help us with some menu enabling/disabling issues or maybe help us with a feature for sorting x values in xy charts. I'm not finally sure about that yet. Maybe your developer can contact me directly after he has had some look on the builds and code? That would be great.

Thanks for your offer to help,
Ingrid
