Hello Ingrid,
Maybe at the specification
process? Would it make sense, if external volunteers specify the
behavior of already implemented chart2mst3 features? Maybe we can
publish a press release that help is needed?
Helping with the specifications would be great. There are several
differences to the old Chart wich are not documented within a
specification so far:
1) Automatic Scaling
The automatic scaling of axis has be enhanced ( Issue 30426 & 54888 )
This task seems difficult to specify for a external contributor, because
only the developers knows the algorithm behind the automatic scaling.
2) Scale tabpage for value axis:
a) For logarithmic scales manual minimum and maximum settings now are
recognized ( Issue 27694 )
b) For logarithmic scales the major interval now has a meaning and can
be changed. 1 is one order of magnitude. 2 is 2 orders of magnitude etc.
(Issue 26869)
c) The minor interval now always is given by a number of subintervals to
ease the setting as it was before for logarithmic scales only.
3) Minor Grids
Minor Grids are not paintet on the Major Grids position anymore (this
maybe could be mentioned within 2c )
This both tasks sounds like I could understand it, after 'playing' a
while with a chartmst3 build. I would like to write a specification for
this. What about calling it 'Chart: Scale and grid'? Maybe you can
include a chapter about task 1.) to it too.
Could you provide a Windows build to me, which contains this features.
...
Furthermore we would like to create a specification for the current
default colors and symbols. This then later on could be used as a basis
to change to a more pretty colorset and maybe an enhanced symbol set or
so. But thats future.
A new default color set would be great, but not only for Chart, also
Draw uses IMHO terrible colors... I think this spec will be a good
candidate for an external specification too, because there's not much
program logic to understand, but there are many constraints to consider
in the spec, like high contrast mode, could color blind people
understand a chart, how does it look on different output media...
