I know what FOSS is about but FOSS also is about giving back code,
working together and not only using it. I know that LGPL/SISL don't
have that strong rule of publish your code that GPL has but it
would only be fair from Patrick and Ed if they would do so if they
have the same goal in making a good OOo Aqua port for Mac OS X
users.

Martin Hollmichel asked about two times why he should put OOo under
GPL or only the Mac port. Both times neither Ed nor Patrick
answered. Dan Williams answred but he couldn't give an answer for
them only suggest what Ed and Patrick may think. SUN asked and
nobody answered.

If you don't want to understand it is more or less useless to
explain it to you. Maybe it is because I have to use the english
language which is a foreign one for me and therefore I cannot
really say what I mean.

In short I complain about that Ed and Patrick don't do every day
work on Mac OS X port - they do the "sunny side of live" work -
which I can only repeat it for the xth time - is much work to do
and during this work they find bugs and Patrick gives back his code
etc pp. But this happens not in time. He finds bugs, he fixes them
and he waits to give them back until he has a need for them in a
OOo 2.0 that he needs for his NO 2.0. It would have been much more
easier if he had donated the code after he fixed the bug. He has a
JCA and so he can commmit. That's the point. The work was done
twice and "wasted" the time of two devs. If we would have had the
fix we could have focused on other nitty things in OOo 2.0 code. We
do work twice where it would could do it once.

> And if _you_ don't do the 2.0 OSX port somebody else is going to do it.

Yes. Sure but this someone will need time to get into porting and
this will take a time and so delay NO 2.0 a bit longer.

I don't complain about Ed and Patrick. I complain about the way
they work together with us. I guess that about 90% of this is due
to misscommunication and old incidents of the past.

Intersting is that neither Ed nor Patrick, both are afaik
subscribed to this list, do answer here in this threat. Instead you
and others think they know what Patrick/Ed thinks and answer for
him. Another point.

Regards,
Eric Hoch
