We are talking about a new tab for the full site not only the homepage,
right?
Yes, we discussed this earlier, but let's give it a try...
it could point directly to the main developer wiki page plus also have
links for *bug reporting and bug reports.*
A tab can point only to one page. We have to decide whether we would
like to link to the wiki or to a page on the main site first.
I'd prefer the latter, but we need to work on the landing page either
way. Neither development.ooo nor the wiki homepage are a good target at
the moment.
The pro argument includes:
* makes it easier for developers. Right now the "contributing" tab is
ambiguous, as it must be--it's comprehensive. Further, Mozilla has
"developers" and in the interest of a common language, it would help.
The con argument includes:
* makes it confusing, as "contributing" already exists, even though we'd
remove "programming" if we have 'developers'.
The basic assumption is that all or virtually all users hitting the
homepage are endusers and not developers.
This is a self-fulfilling prophecy if there is no interesting content /
link for developers on the homepage.
Btw, any thoughts about my proposal to add a blue "developers" button
below "new users"?
Greetings
Stefan
