A tab can point only to one page. We have to decide whether we would
like to link to the wiki or to a page on the main site first.
I'd prefer the latter, but we need to work on the landing page either
way. Neither development.ooo nor the wiki homepage are a good target
at the moment.

for the rather snide remark.
And, if it is, it's an easy one to fix.
Development just needs to be radically cleaned up.
This is true. I would happy to assist with this but since I'm not a
developer, I don't really know what's considered valuable. When I
brought this up a while back, whoever it is that's the main developer
for that page (don't recall who at the moment) made some comment about
working to clean it up, make it better soon. This was about 2 moths ago
now.
Its purpose should
not be to be content rich; the wiki does a better job of that. Rather,
it should have simple boxes/icons with links pointing to the relevant
wiki pages and project pages. The model could even be the current
target for Contributing.
What I don't want is for the Development page (development.ooo)
competing with the wikis and demanding upkeep, etc.
Understood...it sounds like you just want the main Development page to
be kind of a jumping off point, like the Contributing page is, for a
variety of things. This is a good idea to minimize maintenance of the
main Devel page and allow for continuing ease of maintenance to the wiki...
Again, I would be happy to assist with this (mock something up) but I
can't get to it until the beginning of April.
