This has been mentioned many times in IRC (and maybe elsewhere), and I believe that the consensus is that it would be really useful to have something (Sparkle?) giving us extended data on user preferences and xtras. Personally, I'm usually interested in knowing what message styles are installed and what message style preferences are set, but I can specifically remember this type of data being requested when there are discussions of bundled xtras and preference reductions. My impression is that this has never been done because collecting this data might be difficult or tedious to code, and that we'd need to carefully consider concerns about user privacy. Along the lines of improving the user experience by looking at how people use Adium would involve collecting an ever wider collection of non-preference data, like used menu items and keyboard shortcuts, number of tabs open, number of lines in scrollback, number of contacts, etc. I've participated in the FireFox Test Pilot program to provide things like this; maybe someone else here know more about what's involved. -- Matthew
