Suggest there is a nice opportunity (sweet spot) for designers to help the business translate strategy into design - so design not as it relates to screens, products or services but as it relates to the business communicating a vision, business plan or road map.
If you can help management do that - then you will get that seat automatically. This is where business is hurting and needs a lot of help from the design community.
