(not speaking in any official capacity) What makes LISA more expensive over all is that it is a 7-day conference. It is myopic to look at any one part, you have to look at the whole. It would be cheaper over-all if LISA was 1 day.... 1 hotel night is going to be cheaper than 5-7 nights at any realistic price rate.
