Dear Yves,
Sorry for the confusion with MySQL...
I have used/administered MS SQL, but my understanding is the major difference
between MS SQL and Postgresql, beyond the obvious ones, is the ease of
clustering the former.
The really obvious differences are licensing model, portability, and the
amount of graphical tools available.
If I had to help with this decision, my first question would be what is the
dominant platform for servers, especially for DB servers in that shop. The two
extreme cases here would be a 100% Windows shop vs. a place that does use some
UNIX/Linux in the computer room, where they might even already run MySQL or
Postgres, and have people familiar with it who could help out when needed. You
probably are somewhere in between, but I hope my logic helps here.
