My 2c .

Any *thing* running sbs should :

1. Be based on an x86 cpu >1.2Ghz with fpu , otherwise transcoding will
suck.
And binaries for transcoding and such will exist for that processor.
And you want it to run sox for downsampling hirez to older players.
Sox seems exclusive to x86 cpu's

2. 500m to 1GB ram 128mb is to little in any situation, the server
should never swap running sbs.

If your are running some of the more advanced plugins , for example the
ones Erland provides, you might want even more performance .
1.2Ghz 1Gb ram works in a headless linux install, start up time can be
a bit long with a lot of plugins, and alot of files.
