If you haven't done so already, you can use foobar2000 or other software
to write replay gain tags to your FLAC files. Usually you want it to
write both album gain and track gain (as well as album peak and track
peak) tags. Then on the Squeezebox you can control whether or not
Squeezebox Server uses those tags, and if so, how. On the Classic it's
under Settings > Audio.

Note that writing replay gain tags is by far the preferred way to go.
It doesn't touch the actual audio data, which is what some
"normalization" solutions do.

My preferred setting is "Smart Gain". Smart Gain uses the album gain
values when you are playing consecutive tracks from an album, so it
preserves the dynamic range of the album. But if the playlist is a mix
from various albums then Smart Gain will use the track gain values, so
that the volume level is approximately the same from track to track.
Using track gain diminishes some of the dynamics, but on the plus side
it also diminishes the harsh effects of the loudness wars and avoids
jarring changes in volume levels because of some CDs being engineered
"hotter" than others for no good reason.
