Thanks

I know that some modernly mastered CD's' especially of cheap pop music
use too much dynamic compression in order to achieve higher volume
without clipping. I'm not talking about those cd's as I don't really
care about that kind of music. On the other hand, in order to utilized
the maximum dynamic range of a 16bit encoded audio, the cd's must be
mastered so that the highest peak reaches the full scale level of a
16bit word' that is 0db reference. take for an example old dire straits
mastered in the late 80's. They have extremely low volume with much
wasted headroom, resulting an a dynamic rage equivalent of 15 or 14bit
recording. My reference CD's are believe it or not, all recent fully
digitally mastered Michael Jackson albums such as Dangerous and
History. These albums where recorded and mastered by one of the best
recording engineer/producer named Bruce Swedien who even won a Grammy
for some of work with MJ and Quincy Jones. So my question is can the
pre-edited gain tags be tweaked with any other software beside
Foobar2000?
