If it's for fun, go ahead and recreate the wheel. But I say once more, the VAMP with a good USB DAC does exactly what this thread seems to want, with the exception of IR control (but why you'd even want that since it is IP controlled, I don't know) and does it for a lot less money than is being talked about.
