Because of changes in SSL / https - Spotify and internet services need an up to date LMS 8.0.* AND and up to date OS with openssl at least 1.1.*
LMS 8.0.0 integrates online music services and local Music library. Your system can play all current services as long as LMS and OS are up to date. You provide no details on "linux server". At the very least you should upgrade to latest OS (not the latest update for the current version of your OS). Not clear what size your music library but a simple afforable LMS server upgrade would be using a Pi4. SliMP3 may require a lot of transcoding but Pi4 should be OK as long as there isn't a big load.
