I use the PiCorePlayer distro on a Raspberry Pi 3 or 4. I found the native DAC on the Pi is a bit noisy. So for places I don't care as much, I will use it. In places I do care, I will get a better DAC HAT to install. I have a blog post of what I did and the parts used you can find here:
