My way to keep LMS in use by others at home was to put as many touch screen control points around the place as possible - with amplifiers/speakers always powered up.
Even then it has been a limited success. The kitchen is the one place where everyone has tacitly agreed to use it exclusively. Speakers are in the ceiling and are, nowadays, driven by SqueezeAMP and there are two touch screens (Jogglers) - one near the fridge & sink and the other near a dining table. Pretty well everything that everyone else plays in there is via a Favourite.
