I think the Forum is definitely a compromise if you are already
subscribed to the Discuss Lists but much better in the long run for
fostering community.
I don't think so.
I DO hear loudly and clearly that folks on these lists are
passionate about them staying true to their roots, but I think we'll
all benefit from new blood in the community.
I guess it does not depend that we like to stay true to our roots.
What is the difference between a forum and mailing list?
* In a forum, I have to be active to look arround, to read the threads
and to be present there.
* An email is coming in to my inbox. I can read it if I'm interested
or not, I can be passive.
If I have to go to forum, I have to be active.
I do it, if I search for something or if I need something.
If I just want to be informed, a passive way is better. And if I want
I can become active.
I don't have time to look in the forum each day, sorry! And then I
should click message by message?
That is very time consuming.
But if you like to have a discussion, stay on the mailing list. And if
you like that we resellers can hear tucows, then keep the mailing list.
You could improve your customer service, that would be a better idea.
Everything works well, as long there is no bug. But if there is one
and if we report some things they do not work, we don't get an answer
or help on issues. The only help is a work around where we are able to
find it by ourselves.
Tucwos is very far away for me as a reseller. The mailing list was
something where I have been a little bit in touch with tucows and
ongoing issues.
OK, shut it down if you want to keep a part of your customers out. I
don't do active research in a forum.
Greetings,
Bernd Hilmar
