Hi Terry,

The KDM, GDM and indeed XDM log in managers should all offer you the
option to log into whichever desktop manager you choose from those you
have installed, be it KDE, Gnome, Fluxbox, Blackbox, XFCE4, ..., ...

For instance I currently use GDM to manage logins and default into
Gnome, although I could elect to use GDM and go into XFCE4 or any the
various fail-safe options on offer at the log in window. Were I to
install KDE I would also expect that option to appear in the list of
desktops available to me.
