Actually, instead of removing KDE 4.3, I logged back in to see if anything
worked. It does! Installing the XUbuntu desktop obviously updated the right
things, so in theory at least, I can just leave it as it is.

Just a couple more questions. When Synaptic installed the XUbuntu packages (I
wouldn't actually call it lightweight by the way, it put over 250 on ;-) ), it
asked me which Window Manager I wanted to use, offering kdm or gdm. Since I
thought that I would be removing KDE, I chose gdm. I assume that when I log
into KDE it automatically picks up the kdm Window Manager? How do I find out,
or would it simply not work?

The second question relates to updates. Now that I've reverted to the
standard Jaunty repository, will I still get them? I'm assuming that I won't
see any updates to KDE until 9.10 brings in 4.3 officially, in about 6 weeks
time, but that everything else will be OK. Any thoughts?
