Is Skype currently from a package from a repository, e.g. the Canonical
`partner' one, and if so, are there other versions available? Try
$ sudo apt-show-versions -a -R -p ^skype
Not installed
skype 2.2.0.35-0maverick1 maverick archive.canonical.com
skype not installed
$
