Does anyone actually have a patent number on this? 

I was previously told (and I'm sorry I don't have the source, that's why I'm 
asking now) that the AMBE codec was NOT patented, but was protected by Trade 
Secret law. If that is the case than it's entirely different and _could_ be 
clean reverse engineered legally, in theory. In practice it may simply be too 
complex to accomplish.
