As I mentioned in my previous post the drive does not even appear in my disk
utilities (Apple Drive Setup 1.7.3 & Silverlining 6.1). As such I cannot
format, initialize, update drivers etc.

I am not familiar with nortone.

The Duo2300 itself has an IDE drive in it. My DuoDock has a SCSI drive
installed in it with OS8.6 installed. When the Duo2300 is booted up while in
the DuoDock the Docks drive appears as a second drive on the desktop. You
can choose to boot from any drive connected to your Mac just like a regular
desktop machine.

The Geeks I purchased from are in California (www.compgeeks.com) but they
appear to share the same level of Mac expertise.

I am using Disk Setup 1.7.3. I did notice however that the version shipping
with OS9 (on my G4 here at work) is version 1.9.2. Maybe I should check it
when I get home.

Agreed. I look forward to the moment it complains to me about the drive not
being Macintosh formatted or even the software not being compatible. It
would be a step forward.

Thanks so much for the suggestions so far! I will try them out.
