Well, it's a lost cause. The Toshiba drive simply will not appear. I've
tried all the suggestions offered here. I just don't understand because this
isn't brain surgery. This is the first Mac problem I've been unable to
resolve either by myself or with the help of a list or forum. Oh well.

The only thing I can figure out may be the cause is the Duo's ATA-2
interface. The specs for the drive on Toshiba's web site indicates that it
is compatible with ATA-2/3/4. But a PDF file with the drive's specs that I
downloaded only indicated a compatibility with ATA-3/4.

I'm posting the drive on eBay as I don't want to pay return shipping and
Computer Geeks 15% restocking fee.

I would like to thank everyone who provided input on my problem. This list
is great!
