If your Mother's car was a 1962 Studebaker Avantti, her mechanic would have the same
problem. Many times failures of a simple but rare part (that would have been
inexpensive while the item was still in production) can render the item useless.
Apple cannot afford to build parts after they are no longer in production on a piece
part basis, so in effect, there is no supply chain to "order"the part from. That's
one of the problems we have with the low production numbers of our computers.
