I'm with Jose on some of these points. The people here have been very
helpful and information re: this troublesome little machine. Thanks to
everybody (including Paul), who sent help and feedback my way. But that's
what the list is here for, isn't it? This would be a dull place without
problem reports. But it's gotten to be rather unfairly slanted where
everybody thinks I'm just a ball-buster and nobody agrees with my point that
Paul should have tried to get the part. That's up to you, but I still feel
that way. I may unsubscribe when I get the 2400 back and send a report on
how it works, and you can all pop open the bubbly.
And perhaps Paul is right--the email I sent should have been for him alone.
But women usually admit mistakes; men do not.
A personal side note: The Comet has taken dozens of hours away from me that
would have been better spent doing productive work, and I will receive it
now further into debt, yet still broken. It is true the old cliche, you
don't own things, they own you. In fact, the other day when a friend of mine
contemplated buying a newer, fancier car I asked him if the old one still
run well. Great, he says. Does it look nice? Still does, says he. I told him
not to complicate his life by buying anything new. This experience has
changed my thinking, yes indeedy.
I have two other Macs: a 6100/66 and a Wall Street G3. I am the original
owner of both, and they run perfectly. Perhaps the Comet had too many
owners. I don't know.
I would appreciate an end to the venom. I have absorbed other bad news
today, and will probably blow a fuse of my own.
