If memory serves me correctly, production was supposed to around 200,000 of
which some 12,000 units were sold in the USA. Most of the rest were sold in
Japan where they were made by IBM/Japan.
If you follow moderate power management techniques (AppleTalk off, screen
dimmed, PC card out, backside cache off) you can effectively get 2 hrs out
of a 2400 battery. IMHO if you are carrying more than 2 extra batteries
regularly, time to move to a Lombard/Pismo.
