<< During this entire time I did watch ebay and sometimes bid for batteries.
However, I refused to get carried away with the high bids for a battery
of unknown quality. I also ordered a new battery on line only to find
that the listing by the company was in error. When I saw Bill's posting
on the list I was tempted, but decided I could wait for a brand new
battery from BTI. Had I known then what I know now I would have
 responded differently.

I like the 2400 for its portability. I use it in multiple locations all
of which have AC. My use of the battery is limited. Still, I
definitely want a back up battery.

My guess is that there are others like me who where waiting to order a
battery from BTI. When I see the battery frenzy on ebay I know there are
some definitely want batteries. Also when I read that Pineapple Computer
is "SWAMPED by interest from the mainland and Japan" in their
remanufactured 2400's I know there is still interest in the 2400.

I totally agree that most of us were waiting to spend the extra cash on what
we assumed would be NEW BATTEI
