I can only address a few items
let me preface my responses with..
I am running Win 7 *NOT* a Mac
I am using DXLabs for the CAT control of the K3 in WSJT-X
I am running a K3 and a SignaLink USB
I am using the SignaLink Cable for the rear of the K3

LIN OUT should be set to nor 010
can't rem where I read it...
but it was emphatic about the level being 010 or only slightly more
due to potential for distortion with any higher levels

I also run my SignaLink @ 50% for both TX & RX
all further TX signal levels adjustments
to bring the TX up to 4 bars on the K3's ALC
are done from within Win7's audio settings for the SignaLink USB
(don't know how ur Mac does that...?)

the Open Rig Fail (for me) was most often due to comm port setting being off the 38000 works for me and I have used both serial and usb_to_serial successfully

here are my WSJT-X Configuration settings:

other images here might be helpful, or not, since they are on Windoz ;-/

I am trying to setup WSJT-X for JT65 operation on my K3 and Mac but
can't seem to get the program to work. My audio card is a SignaLink

When I try to configure WSJT-X to interface to my K3, I always get
the message "Open Rig Failed".

Does anyone have any suggestions on the proper setup of the K3 as
well as WSJT-X?

Here is my K3 setup:

K3 CONFIG settings: AF GAIN HI AF LIM nor 030 LIN OUT
nor 075 PTT--KEY OFF-OFF RS232 38400 b SPKRS 2 SPKR+PH
NO

K3 MENU Settings: MIC SEL Line In MIC+LIN Not APPL (I
can't change this)

Controls: CMP 0 MIC MIC LINE 20 SQUELCH 0 RF GAIN 50% MODE
USB NB OFF NR OFF NTCH OFF VOX OFF
AGC AGC-F ALT OFF PWR 50 Watts

On the SignaLink USB I have the Tx and Rx gain set for 50% and DLY
set to 0.

Thanks and 73,
