Oops. Did you spot the deliberate mistake? I meant '.. if you don't have a copy of Filemaker Pro.'
It's worth obtaining a copy of the Claris Emailer Companion by Thomas Dell and published by Academic Press. My copy is dated 1997 but the book may now be out of print. I'm not aware of an alternative reference. Maybe other Emailers know different? The backup utility to which I refer is 'Emailer Archive', v3, and credited to Dan Crevier and David Cortright. It runs a bit slow on my Mac' but has proven to be reliable. You might also like to visit http://www.macemail.com/emailer/CEMH/tips_and_highlights.shtml and see under 'Filing Weirdness' where there is a reference to the disappearing messages phenomena. The 'dragging messages between browser windows' solution works well enough but I didn't find the F5 tip effective. I suspect this tip is intended for relocating some of the Emailer files, e.g. in moving the mail database to a larger hard disk. It's not useful for fixing database corruptions.
