i work for a small mac-based office, where among other things, i find myself performing the IT role on many occasions.

we are sort of a mini-museum to the Mac OS -- with G4s, running alongside Performas, Power Computing computers, first and second generation iMac's and G3 towers. most machines are running something in the 8.x-9.x series of OS. one machine is running OS X.

our problem started wednesday, and this may have been addressed here before, if it has and there is an archive somewhere that i can search, please let me know.

Two of our Emailer users, one on a 2nd Generation iMac and the other on a Power Computing tower, opened up Emailer to find..NOTHING. no addresses, no mailboxes, etc. etc.

i've tried rebuilding the database, which gets them up and running, but we still can't see the mail messages.

i've attempted opening up the mail and address databases in FileMaker -- but didn't get anything useful.

i've added the latest version of Outlook Express to the iMac and hoped it would import the messages and we'd be saved, and although that looked promissing at first, it eventually errored out and didn't complete the task.

someone in the office heard that Mail in OS X might be able to read the old Emailer databases -- but i haven't tried that yet.

has anyone experienced this problem, and what do we do? it's the publisher and he's really concerned about the loss of years worth of contact information, etc.

(i know, i know, these things should have been backed up, but i only started 6 months ago, one thing at a time!)

thanks,

christopher
