An advanced rebuild should fix this.
I got this a fair amount with Mac OS 7.x through 8.5, but since 8.6, Emailer has been remarkably well behaved.
YES! Now that we are back to square one (having found the Database with the F5 key, the advanced rebuild did the trick and everything is up and running. And I'm now the personal hero of the entire staff.

This is actually the first time it's ever happened around here. Now, if I could just figure out how to get the Claris import command to work in Outlook Express.
(Oh, and how to stop using Netscape 7.0 on this computer... but that's another list...and another day.)
