I would posit another side of this "benefit" (an ISP that blocks spam before it gets to me), and that is that there's ALSO a chance it will block email I want! For example, right now AOL has a spam-blocker, and a few times (that _I know_ of) it has cost me some important and timely missed messages. [AOL's blocking is completely hidden from the Mac AOL application; only configurable at all using the latest version on Windows; and, AFAIK, was never mentioned to Mac users. . . It was only thanks to someone on this list that I found out about this at all and can only "see" blocked spam if I check my AOL mail with a web browser. Agggh!] Earthlink's "spaminator," while it caught a lot, did let spam through, but I never gave it too much "good" mail to verify whether it's likely to block non-spam by mistake. Anyway, my point is that blocking spam is bound to be less than perfect both in what it lets slip through AND what it erroneously blocks. I depend on email for high priority communication, and until the process is much more reliable, I'm leery of any method that I can't monitor and configure. I do hate spam, though, and I do get a lot, so I _really_ appreciate all thoughts, insights, advice, experience, and suggestions of application/solutions/services from good sources -- like you folks who populate this wonderful list. . . . So, thank you! . . . and: share on! - dan + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Dan Feather [EMAIL PROTECTED] 615-385-2812 AppleScript solutions for Macintosh applications Website and product development and testing Desktop publishing and prepress services + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
