Earthlink and AOL for example, both offer dial up for free. Many ISP's have a toll free number for when you are travelling, which typically costs $6.00 an hour. When you are looking for DSL or cable, just ask about dialup if you intend to travel. There are several broadband pages which will search your phone number (to get location) and tell you what options you have. Just search with google for words like "cable dsl comparison" If you are lucky, you have a lot to choose from, if unlucky, (if you live in podunk North Dakota) you won't have access to broadband. Most US areas have at least one choice, though.
