OK, the lasersaur wasn't the best example, but I was looking for something that wasn't a 3D printer and just grabbed the first thing in my bookmarks. To their defense, however, yes, you can charge a reasonable copying fee, and the GPL licenses also apply only to your _customers_ and not to the world in general. I would also be willing to put the Lasersaur design file availability and "openness" up against the manufacturer supplied design files for any of the machines we saw on-site in Wichita. The main point I am trying to make is the "hackerspace folk" have a different perspective on the world than the industrial machine control market where LinuxCNC is typically used, and if you want to engage these people (which I think is a good idea) the LinuxCNC community needs to be prepared for the differing perspectives of the two communities. - -- Charles Steinkuehler char...@steinkuehler.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iEYEARECAAYFAlHTalsACgkQLywbqEHdNFxbBQCgu2dskFYKswIb1hz8OHl5bFTJ GFUAn0oUp4Dom0cqgd5RO0dI0fUu7Q/F =l7s7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Windows: Build for Windows Store. http://p.sf.net/sfu/windows-dev2dev _______________________________________________ Emc-developers mailing list Emc-developers@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-developers
