so it can cut a 2 step pulley, one step about 3" in diameter, the second, right hand step at about 1.5" in diameter. Where the included angle at the tip is around 35 degrees, and the left facet, the / above is half the .092" width of the groove. I have already tried to remove the gross amounts of material from the right side of a 5/16" bar, but at that angle all I was doing even with an every 10 second dip into a pan of water, was overheating it. Wrong stone on that grinder maybe, its quite fine grained & seems to dull easily. So today I try a different method of mounting to allow a different profile using the diamond disk that will basically just cut away the end .125" of the tool. I have a drill chuck mounted on a rod that I use for carrying a milling tool for use in small bore boring ops, and if the jaws on it will open wide enough to clamp the tool at the heel clearance angle, I can chuck that rod in the 3 jaw on the rotary table, and establish the edge angles that way. My current method of holding the tool in the 3 jaw puts the end of the tool so close to the 3 jaws that I can't get at the tool with the diamond disk without damaging the chuck or jaws. The tool is too short, so I have to jury rig something different. But it may wait, I think we are headed to NY to say goodby to Dee's older sister, who has indicated she wants no more effort made to keep her going. Some sort of a blood infection and pneumonia thing. She is 85 or 86 now, and lost her speech from a stroke shortly after her youngest was born 50 years ago. So life has been, to her, just one confusion after another, and she knows the end is approaching. So I think I do my laundry today in between this other stuff, and with the recall on the airbags, I am going to try & convince Dee we take the GMC instead of the 2007 RAV-4 Toy which has not yet had its bags replaced. The GMC's bags are 99 versions and not known to have the problem. Not to mention I feel better in a 7,000+ lb vehicle in Memorial weekend traffic.
