I have used a number of SSI encoders. BISS is a newer standard.
I have an customer application for an SSI interface (hydraulic positioner) and Peter gave me a 7i43 config that will accept the raw SSI serial interface but the hostmot2 driver needs to be altered. I need to look into that but have not had time to do so yet. I have a Balluf linear transducer that has an SSI output on it that I bought to complete the interface. I can bring everything to Wichita if anyone else has some interest in this.. I think this would be a valuable addition to LinuxCNC.
