This works for any 60 degree thread, so is good for US screws too. You
just need to convert TPI to inch pitch.

So, 1/2" x 16 tpi? 1/2" - 1/16" = 7/16" tapping drill.

It doesn't work so well for proper Whitworth threads. :-)
