It's a while since I did the original tests, but I just carried out 
another one.

However, I now have only 832 messages in OE5 compared to 160k 
messages in Eudora. A search for "IP Address" took OE5 35 seconds to 
find 5 hits. Eudora took 95 seconds to find 1076 hits. So, in this 
test OE5 searched a little less than 24 messages per second, Eudora 
searched 1,679 messages per second. The hit rate (in percentage of 
messages hit) is not a long way different between OE & Eudora.

I recall that last time, with about 1500 messages in OE (and probably 
around 100,000 in Eudora at that time) that eudora actually took less 
time to complete a search of the full database.
