It was pretty unacceptable for me too.  While waiting, I got bored and had
to do something so I started reading other main in my inbox.

I should say also, that it slowed down tremendously once the search reached
~14K.  At that point it seemed to even lock up the computer, only allowing
an occasional command to squeak through as E hogged the CPU.

Fortunately, in my years of using OE 4, then 5 and now E, I've never
searched by message body.  My organizational style doesn't usually need a
body search.  All I usually ever use is the quick filter for name or
subject.  But still... For others who organize different than I do, this
time was terrible.
