Since you ask... I dragged my "Deleted Items" folder, which contains 1947
messages, to the desktop to create a quasi-mBox file. I then did an advanced
search for messages in the "Deleted Items" whose "From" field contained a
co-worker's last name. Secondly, I used the filter in the "Deleted Items"
window to display the same messages. I eliminated the delay of my typing the
text to filter by typing it in elsewhere, copying and pasting it into the
filter. Lastly I used BBEdit 5.1.1's "Multi-file Search" to search for the
text "From: coworker's name" in the exported quasi-mBox file.

The searches in Entourage seem to be cached so that subsequent searching for
the same criteria provides results in a fraction of the time. Here are the
results to search 1,947 messages:

Advanced Find in Entourage = ~37.09 seconds
Subsequent tries with Advanced Find = ~3.43 seconds
Entourage Window Filter = instantaneous (I was, frankly, amazed
at this one!)
BBEdit Multi-file Search = ~12.28 seconds

This test was performed on a Pismo 500, 10MB allocated to Entourage, 5MB
allocated to BBEdit. BBEdit was not running when the Entourage tests where
performed. Entourage was running, but no schedules were active when the
BBEdit test was performed.
