There actually is a product that will do something like that for you
already.
I agree with your concerns, and I definitely preferred the older method of
storing multiple files, instead of keeping everything in one large file. It
doesn't matter how many times I get to hear how much more efficient this
method is, problem reports like yours pop up with regularity on this list,
and are an indication that this is NOT the best method (particularly since
searches and other tasks were still faster on eMailer).
I don't believe there are many users on this list that have not at one point
or another lost their Main Identity files... that ought to say plenty :-)
I really wish there was a better way. Then again, in all fairness, I do have
to say that in the past few updates, the quality and speed, including
stability of the product has improved incrementally... so progress is being
made noticeably. Let's hope there will be something cool at MacWorld in
another week or so.. (grin)
