Disk First Aid and Norton Utilities both report that the disk does not need
repairs. I hadn't thought to run Disk Warrior, though; I'll try that,
although it doesn't appear to be a directory problem.
As many have pointed out, I have two issues: (1) how to fix my particular
file, and (2) the architecture issue related to having to put all my eggs in
one big basket.
As to the architecture, I wonder why Entourage provides an Export Contacts
command in the file menu, but no Export Calendar Events or Export Messages
command or Export Notes command.
