Office only stores files in three places:

Microsoft Office X
Microsoft User Data
Library/Preferences/

How complicated can it be for them to remove files when everything is
localized like this. I don't think your concerns have any grounds.

The remove/reinstall has nothing to do with data corruption. It's just a
deletion of installation of files. The data isn't modified in any way. And
the data brought in from other apps is imported the same way whether Office
is freshly installed or re-installed. Why would that make *any* difference?
