Got me
too. The simplest thing to do is to reinstall office, run the SR1 update on it,
and then redo the 10.1.1 update.
Just
drag the office folder onto your disk to reinstall. Your entourage database
is not in the Office folder, so it will still be there after you reinstall. You
have to re-enter your office key, but t's much easier than trying to sort out
the privileges.
-----Original Message-----Well, Microshaft got me. I downloaded the Office v.X 10.1.1 update that was released yesterday, because it included this statement:

Subject: Re: Office Update fails and screws up my Entourage
"This update also addresses several stability issues that may be caused by running Office v. X using Mac OS 10.2."
When I tried to install it, it started the install, then stopped and gave me the error message that I do not have enough access privileges to install it, even though I am the only user/administrator using this iBook, running 10.2. If I don't have the access privileges, I don't know who would. Okay, so I figure I'll just live without the update and go back to business as usual. But Nooooooooo!
Now when I try to launch Entourage, I get this message:
"Microsoft Entourage cannot load the Microsoft shared libraries.
The files may have been moved from their original locations. Try the following:
€ Move Entourage back to the Microsoft Office folder (or to where it was originally installed).
€ Reinstall Entourage to make sure that all files are installed correctly."
Well, Entourage IS in the Microsoft Office folder, where it always has been. So, if I take option 2 above and reinstall Entourage, will I lose all of my saved mail, downloaded but unread mail, and my contacts? And if so, is there any way to avoid that, such as moving a file and saving it to an external disk?
Thanks for any help that anyone can offer.
Worried,
John
