Hi Beth.  
Both OS-X and Office-X have had the latest updates installed.
Somehow, I hadn't noticed the "Repair Permissions" bit.  Interesting that
this would be such a prevalent issue that there is actually a specific
system function at the ready to recover from it.
As I mentioned, after many years doing the "PC" thing to death, Mac is
certainly a major part of my future from now on.  But this feature wasn't
part of my lexicon yet.

I have run it now but to no avail.
It seemed to do a bunch of stuff, but when I again added that account to the
"Send/Receive" schedule, I get:

"Could not retrieve mail from the account xxxxxxxx."

"A connection error has occurred."

"Error: -23012"

But again, if I launch that account by itself manually it checks and
retrieves mail perfectly.

Back to square one.
Gunna be a challenge, this one, huh?
