And you're quite sure that there's no script in the Entourage Script menu that shows a ⇧H on the right end of the menu item? (I have to say that typing caps-lock-h followed by caps-lock to normalize it until you figure this out doesn't really sound so terrible.) I agree that should be no need to reinstall your OS. Reinstalling Office is no big deal. You're correct to inquire about templates since Office still improperly keeps them with the application folder where they'd get replaced. Here's what you should do: 1) First MOVE the "My Templates" subfolder, plus any other personal subfolders of templates that you may have introduced into the standard location - /Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Templates/ folder - to a safe location somewhere in your user (home) folder. I strongly recommend ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/ folder (where ~/ is your user folder). Then make an alias file to it, by holding down both command (Apple) and option keys while you drag it, to its original location. You will see that you can still access your templates from the Project Gallery just as if they were still in their usual location. If you have put any templates inside the Microsoft Office 2004/Startup/Word/ folder (or Startup/Excel or PowerPoint), do exactly the same: move the Startup folder to the MUD folder and make an alias to it back in its original location. (I would also suggest that you do the same with your Custom Dictionary in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/ folder, so you don't lose that again.) 2) Then, when you do the proper uninstallation - go to /Applications/Microsoft Office 2004/Additional Tools/Remove Office/, run Remove Office, removing ALL copies of Office including Preferences when asked, then EMPTY THE TRASH - you will not touch any of your data in the MUD folder - not your Entourage identities, nor your Word templates. 3) After re-installing Office from the CD, replace the empty My Templates subfolder and Startup folder with aliases from the real My Templates subfolder and Startup folder in the MUD folder, just like you did before. Now all your templates are available. 4) Go to Help/Check for Updates in any Office app and update Office to 11.3. Now see how things are in Entourage. I expect nothing will have changed because I still think you have something else interfering with Entourage. But it's definitely worth a try. > > Thanks for any other advice -- or for information on whether deleting and > reinstalling will or won't delete my Word templates. -- Paul Berkowitz MVP MacOffice Entourage FAQ Page: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/index.html> AppleScripts for Entourage: <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/> PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using - 2004, X or 2001.
