Now I've just tried exporting my mail from the Entourage account, going to the new account, opening Entourage, setting up the pop and smtp and then importing what I exported.

I get something, but nothing remotely like what my folder hierarchy looked like originally.

I have tried again to just copy over the Main Identity but Entourage claims the database is unreadable and asks me to repair it, but the database repair programme gets UNKNOWN ERROR -5000 and cant do anything.

I'm completely stuck, on what should be such a simple process.

Jock,

The guts of the Entourage data is in the MUD folder. Actually it is the only thing you should need to copy over to the new account. Copy the following
folder to your new account.
   "home/documents/microsoft user data"

I concur but you don't even need the whole MUD (Microsoft User Data) folder. I have many times copied just my identity folder (by defualt, that's Main Identity) inside MUD/Office 2004 Identities between my desktop and laptop
(to the laptop before leaving on a trip; back to the desktop upon my
return). Never moved anything else. Works flawlessly.
