I have not regretted getting this lens at all. It is HUGE and it does draw attention.
I am used to the weight and didn't think it was too much more trouble than the 28-70
2.8L I had been carrying around all summer. I guess I was 'broke-in' with the 28-70.

I got the 2.8 because of the filter size. The 4 is an odd size and I would have to
buy a second set of filters.

I love this lens for portraits. It amazes me every time I use it. I really like the
combo of 200mm @ f2.8 for nice blurry backgrounds.

I would buy it again. By the way, when I go on vacation, I put the 28-105 back on for
snapshots. Now, that is odd carrying such a light combo like that!

Hi,

My 50-200/3.5-4.5L has died. I'm now choosing between the 70-200 2.8 or the
4.0. Has anyone regretted buying the 2.8 lens? Too big? Optically not what
you expected wide open? Do you leave it home more than you thought you
would because of the weight? Do faster/more pushable films make you feel as
though you don't need the 2.8 now? Or any other reason?

Thanks,

Ron
