> Too big?
Yes
> Do you leave it home more than you thought you would because of the
weight?
No, I bring it with me an bitch about the weight.
> Do faster/more pushable films make you feel as though you don't need the
2.8 now?
I generally use mine with ProviaF pushed. While you can still freeze a
subject with fast film
and the f4 lens, you lose that wonderful background blur at f2.8 and some
focusing speed with the
EOS 3 or 1v.
> Or any other reason?
I would happily trade my 70-200/2.8 for an 85/1.8 and a 300/2.8, but that is
about the only combination
of primes that I would rather have.
I guess I consider the 70-200 to be something of a pointless lens. Unless
you need a fast lens (both in terms of
max aperture and AF speed) I think you are much better off with a 100-400 --
it is just a more useful lens for
everything but sports and portraits. The flip side is the 70-200 is
excellent for sports and portraits
(though again I would rather have the 300/85 combination -- bring $$$).
