Absolutely correct. The Elan II/IIe, 50/50e , 55
(whatever you want to call it) has e-ttl capability
with any EX series flash.
It supports ttl only with a 540EZ (or any EZ series
flash) and doesn't support a-ttl regardless of which
flash is attached.
